When Cate Thorn starts her period for the first time, she tells herself that what she’s experiencing is normal.  It’s normal to feel different.  It’s normal to feel scared.  It’s normal to feel mind-bending bouts of rage.  It’s normal to feel pain so hot and excruciating that it drives her straight into unconsciousness.

What’s not normal is waking up on a stranger’s front lawn.  Or a city park behind the wheel of an abandoned car.  Or in an alleyway—miles from home—with a corkscrew embedded in her side.

Between the blackouts and the blood, Cate suspects there may be something more than PMS at work.  In fact, all the evidence suggests that Cate may be responsible for a growing list of dead men: her stepfather—who drowned in someone else’s blood; some millionaire—found dead in the back seat of his Bentley; a complete stranger—who might have been Cate's real father.

At fourteen, Cate shouldn’t have to think about these things, but life isn’t what it’s supposed to be.
